“Dream Home”.......Wally & Cheri Bailey, White Sulphur Springs

Mar 07, 2018

We can all imagine our “dream home” and I’m sure most of us have a Pinterest folder called “home ideas”. But, how many of those ideas become reality?

For Wally and Cheri Bailey, their dream home became reality with the help of Marks Lumber Timber Frame team.

The Bailey’s came to us with a vision that included a hybrid timber frame with mortise and tenon hammer trusses in their dream home great room and timber accents scattered throughout. Our Timber Frame lead, Cody Marks and Sales associate, Eric Obrigewitch listened to and considered all their ideas. They worked with the Bailey’s to take their vision from ideas to reality by working up CAD drawings, discussing improvements to their ideas to make sure the trusses work structurally, and made suggestions to help them achieve their dream.

Once designs were finalized. which included approval from our engineer, the timber frame team of Cody Marks and Seth Slocum went to work building a dream. Design to installation took 11 months. The entire timber frame and many of the accent pieces were precut, mortised in our Shop and then transported to the Bailey’s homesite in White Sulphur Springs. We then built and erected the trusses on site. In addition to the timber frame in the great room and accent pieces in the kitchen, dining nook and dining room, Marks Lumber also provided decking, blue pine T&G paneling in the great room ceiling, Doug Fir rough sawn trim, and custom stair newel posts.

Wally and Cheri, retired Montana ranchers, raised their family in a small ranch home in White Sulphur. Wally commented to us that “Mamma always wanted a timber home”. As you can see from the pictures below, Cheri got her wish!

It was a pleasure working with the Bailey’s and a privilege to help them achieve their dream home.
